Like it or not, 4Runner is a Union made vehicle. Working conditions have a lot to do with final product quality. Nobody is forced to join or begrudgingly accept terms of a pension.

I think they will keep the 4Runner the same for the next few years given the demand for off road models is up. Bronco will likely cost more as well as the new land rover.

Japan has a shortage of workers and an aging population with a very low birthrate so eventually Toyota will have to automize more or go where there is an abundance of workers. Toyota like most corporations wants to make money while providing a good product to consumers. The reason, "Toyota's quality control in manufacturing" is legendary and is not only replicated but also taught to other manufacturers. Therefore it doesn't matter where they make the cars as long as they keep the quality in check.

One reason I bought my 4Runner was because of where it was built. But I have to admit, if you look at vehicles like the Highlander and Camry, Toyota has still been able to make vehicles in North America and still maintain their reputation. That said I still hope they never take the 4Runner out of Japan.

I don't buy vehicles made in Mexico. I know the rarity of the 4Runner being built in Japan and the cost savings to be had by sending it to the 3rd World to be built. Still won't buy one, no matter the price cut.:nono:

They never cut prices for consumers. Carhartt is a prime example, right around the switch coats both us and Mexican were the same price in the same store.

Yeti coolers is another good example. They make their coolers in the US and the Philippines. Same price regardless of where they were made.
