72k Miles, 3rd Gen

It could also very well be that the seller is not in a rush to sell or is not opposed to NOT sell it. But if he can get the higher end of his asking price he'll have a sweet sorrow parting with it, but he'll be ahead of the game.

Beautiful truck though, but yeah. I wouldn't pay 1/2 of what he's asking. Like some other folks were saying, age might do this truck in, not miles.

that paint and interior are super clean. all the guy needs are painted wheels.

but, at 15k price point, better off going GX or 4th/5th gen.

That 4runner better come with 6 grand worth of gold bars in the back...

$15k is insanity but someone with enough money and desire will probably pay damn near the 15k for it.

If I had enough money and wanted a clean 3rd gen to keep stock, or build up I'd be looking at one just like this and would probably pay not far off the asking price. It's the right truck for someone at that price probably.

He'll never get that. If it was a 99-00 sport, w/ 5 speed & locker I'd try to get him down to 10 to 12K if I was in the market.

While he may not get the full 15k... it's CO and as others mentioned, our Toyota 4x4 market is insanely inflated relative to other states (Side note, the Subaru market is insane also). This includes 4runners, highlanders, tacoma, tundra, land cruisers, fj's, and hell even rav4's.

The seller is actually smart. If he listed at $11k-12k, a buyer might negotiate down to $10k for example. At $15k, the buyer may negotiate down to $12-13k.

I'd be curious to see how it drives though! Considering most 3rd gens have 200k+ miles, if this thing sat for years, it could also have 'parked car' issues.

Excellent point. Our market is a little wack, but they are amazing cars (4Runners of course), and maybe this buyer isn't as crazy as we think. If I had that much money in hand, I would rather go with the GX..

Fully agree with you.

Only have the wife and 1 kid atm, but in the future if it brings me more kids, I'll have to consider LX/GX.

My only issue with that is I'm used to having Toyota parts be less cuz of 'Yota! but would have to mentally adjust to parts being more expensive just cuz of 'Lexus brand :(

Not to mention how inexpensive and abundant Toyota parts are! Glad to be living here where we don't really have to worry about rust, the only thing I watch out for are the college students with a California license plate

For 15k, I would be looking for an 06-09 4th gen 4.7L sport or sr5 with 100k miles. Or an gx470. 4th gens may not look as cool but they are better to drive in every way. Especially with that smooth 4.7

I really like the look of the boxy 3rd gen. If it had the same engine as the 4th gens do, I would keep it until the ends of the earth

I'm also a huge fan of the 4th gen and the GX470 (2UZ-FE ftw). I think the 4th gen look great, not ugly.

BTW I know all the 4th gen problems/scares; i think they are corrected from 05+.

To the people in here calling the guy dumb and bashing the price. Every single one of you would have this truck posted for a crazy number too if it was yours...
