this will be a medium duty rig as well as a DD. Sad looking little truck


Plan,
rebuild 3.0
4" pro comp lift
1.5" BJ spacer
5.29's open front aussie rear
blistens haven't decided which ones yet
36x12.50x16 PJ dirts on DC-1
custom front winch bumper

preparing for injector pigtail replacement, had a semi gutted 89 harness with good plugs so that's what I am using. Plan is to open harness all the way up to crimps and replace.


and finally motor in, lots of wrestling ! My helper had day off skeet shooting practice for state tourney
 
lift is almost done, new upper/lower bj's ,inner/outer tre's will be here wed.


poser shot, really needs the 1 1/2 bj spacers and running boards gone.


rear is next, man I am beat.

I was able to get a little done, new upper/lower bj's and inner/outer tre's with bj spacers installed.



Had to put the lower A arms in press to get them out, heat and air hammer couldn't budge them.

Helper didn't check clearance after cutting A arm(he was to happy about using plasma)

So he has to pull it apart and my helper is pist off at me. Being dad doesn't help either !!!

I's suggest getting a beefier locker if you plan to run anything over a 35" tire. Aussie lockers are great, but lunchbox lockers can only handle so much. IIRC the literature says they don't suggest going over a 33" or something like that. Have you considered an automatic locker like a detroit or grizzly?
 
I have run 35x14.50x15 tsl swampers on 12" rim with aussies F/R, it was the only lunch box locker to hold up with 4.7 gears. I didn't take it easy on them either, then went to 37's just to see if they could handle it. They are still in action as we speak.

I would probably worry more about the cv axles holding up than the locker. 35" + locked + man not afraid to wheel = autozone lifetime replacements ! :madgrin:

for sure going with those, all though he isn't into rocks as much as hunting and camping. So with getting to and from job sites which can be a challenge for him and running off the grid for me time. I think it should hold up just fine, but we are putting first gen roll bar in and holder for spare cv ! Never know

Because when I first saw it a couple years ago it was still shiny and had all 5 factory alloys. It was sitting on rusted steelies and needs window trim replaced in a few spot and has a dent in pass fender. But we will get it back to it's glory !!

That was the deciding factor between this one and one needing a little less work( not to mention double din radio space for dvd , why the 1st gen lost out and up for sale now), but he has mentioned a CBI rear with carrier for spare tire, water can and gas. So if that happens will send you a PM


front end back together after Bj spacer clean up.

5.29's it is an auto otherwise I might have used 4.88's, have to fine tune rear end this weekend. He is home and bringing his gear over so I can set ride stance.
 
he couldn't find the spacers that came with his kit, so it's sagging in the rear. But on it's own weight for load test later today.


Going to get it up on the lift once all the test fitting is done and do some painting !
 
well suspension is as far as I can take it without spacers, so I decided to work on misc stuff.

Removed ABS pump and hard lines, I hate making lines so I used a front caliper hard line and went real slow. Works like a dream, lines all done.
