Nice one, not a ridiculously high price. HG done, manual transmission, I like it. Nothing wrong with auto though, if maintained well.

These things got so much hate between the open roof 1st gen crowd and the keep-up-with-traffic 3rd gen crowd. I think they are finally starting to be appreciated to the level they were in their prime. These are the original 4Runner.
I'd give it $8-9k. Damn I really want one of these now.

I've owned 1st, 2nd and 3rd generations, only have 2nd gen now. Had an '85 with EFI and SFA but the 2nd gen is my favorite of the three, for sure.

I love my 3rd gens to death, but these things were just so damn 90s stylish. The milled alloy wheels with the black center cap, the carpeting on the door panels, that fancy headliner. Even little details like how the front map lights could turn on with the doors. No clue why they dropped these tiny details in 1996. I just wanna find some new old stock alpine audio stuff from 1992 and hook this thing up. The 3rd gen was definitely more conservatively styled by comparison but then that was a trend going into the 2000s. I'm glad these 2nd gens are getting the spotlight now. Very underappreciated generation considering it made 4Runner a household name.

I agree. The 2nd gens had beautiful styling that was also very, very simple. A 3.4 swapped 1995 with leather, sunroof, and a 5speed is very very high on my want list. I really miss my 2nd gen, even though I'm in a 100 series land cruiser now.

Yes, I'm sure the modern 4Runner is very reminiscent of a 1st gen. The modern Ford Expedition must be very reminiscent of the Bronco too.
The 1st gen was a niche vehicle.

They are all “niche” vehicles. They fill a need. I’m not saying that there is anything wrong with second gens, just that they aren’t “the original” 4Runner. Every generation has its good and bad points. I’m not sure what the point of the Ford thing is. It’s like saying the Sequoia is reminiscent of the 4Runner. Both are SUVs from the same maker, but the 1st Gen 4Runner is... wait for it...
