94 3VZE manual gearbox RHD speedo failure

so. my speedo stopped working.

yes it is a electrical signal speedo (i know there seems to be both types installed in different cars that match the same setup )

yes. its definitely the board. i have tested the sensor.

I found a youtube video talking about the issue and how to repair it.

I Have changed the capacitors and it was still broken, and finally took it to a business local to me that supplies the Nissan factory with electronic components to look into it.

they told me theres a transistor in the board that is broken, most likely due to a short circuit induced by the acid that leaked from the capacitors.

the problem with that transistor is that theres no markings in it. so they cant replace it. and this is where i need help.

if anyone can help with identifying what is this SMD transistor supposed to be, i will hopefully be able to get my speedo working again.

im not completly ignorant when it comes to electronics. but this is beyond my knowledge. I Have made some stuff that im pretty proud of, but thats all in a different car comunity.. if anyone here has a lotus elan M100, they would probably recognise the name lol anyways. im kind of desperate now and really just trying the long shot.

You talking about the black component to the right of the upside down 102?

If so it looks like 1 lead on the right goes to a solder pad and 2 leads come out on the left go to another solder pad. If that were a transistor in any normal circuit those 2 would go to 2 separate solder pads, not the same one.

That kind of tells me it's a diode or a transistor being used as a diode, which sometimes is cheaper than an actual diode.

Just a guess.

yes i am talking about that one.

i fitted this in the car just to prevent me from losing bits... and now its working... i have no idea what the hell is going on. but while driving it looked ok for 99% of the time. there was a moment while driving when the speedo blipped to zero but for only a tenth of a second.

i need to kepe that in mind and possibly jsut swap with any transistor but i assume it could be used as a currnet limiting diode. ? which in that case. knowing details about it may be necessary in order to replace with something suitable
