95 4 runner engine problems

I have a 95 4 runner 3.0it does this weird thing right below 2000 rpm where it will jump 500 rpm and continue to do that another issue I am having is the idle is very inconsistent sometimes it will idle around 850 sometimes it idles as low as 350 and anywhere between.
Any Ideas?

You might check to see if the truck is throwing any codes. It seems like it is searching for idle as if the o2 sensor was bad, or the regulator is having issues. I would start there first then work my way through the basics.

Well for some reason my check engine light doesnt work... at all... I tried changing the bulb and no luck.

Nice video! My honda snowblower does a similar surging when idle once warm (the fix there is to clean the carb, particularly one of the real fine holes on the fixed jet).

In my 92 FSM, page EM-81 for troubleshooting the 3.0 3VZ-E engine, they call it serging instead of surging. Their 5 things to check, in order of checking them, are:
1. Fuel Pressure Regulator
2. Spark Plug
3. Distributor
4. Injectors
5. Engine and ECT ECU

If you don't have one already, get or download a FSM. It gives pages for each of these things on how to check them.
