The kit from rough country is 3" for 96-02 4runner. I did purchase the toytec drop kit and had it installed at the same time.

I meant to add that you do not any additional parts other than the diff drop kit and that's not required. I just ordered it to keep my CV angles in good standing

How is this holding up? I thought about getting their rear shocks, just the shocks, and doing 99 talls, maybe w/spacer, but wanted to know how long the shocks last.
Here's my 2cents on the Rough Country kit. (First let me say that I have no plans of taking this thing offroad) ... I installed this kit on my 2000 2wd over the weekend. On the positive side, the ride is pretty decent and actually a bit better than expected with 285's. The negative, the stance. The rear gained a little over 3" (im aware that the springs will settle) & the front only gained around 1.25" with the supplied strut extension. With that being said, I would have been better off money wise getting the OME springs F&R from the get go, seeing that I had to turn around and purchase front springs anyway. Just something to consider!

Will that make it have a bit of a rake? I have 99 Tall's all the way around, and my rears are starting to sag a little... I was thinking about replacing them with 906's

Or just throw a daystar spacer in the rear. If looks are your main concern

The 906's are known for about 2" of lift. The 99 talls are 1" over stock so you should have a slight rake with the 906's. From what I hear though, they are stiff. If you want to keep your stock ride do what ^he said and add a spacer.

Ive had Rough Country before, but not on a Toyota. I will say this, it was strong on my full sized Bronco. It very much lacked when it came to articulation and comfort. The shocks were absolute garbage, I think they just put them in the kit to limit down travel lol.
I wouldn't buy it unless I just wanted to wheel my rig for a couple years while I saved up for something serious.

Did you have the RC kit yourself? I'm not a hardcore off roader but I do live on a farm in the mountains here in PA. The terrain is rough and it's all hills. I have had no problems so far. I imagine things are quite different if youre a rock crawler but I chased a coyote across my back field this past fall at about 50MPH and caught air a couple times and it sure felt better than stock. Could you suggest a replacement shock for the 3inch kit that would fair better (if problems arise) and work with the springs?

Good if used for light trail riding
Just my 2 pennies... Ive had my 3in RC lift on for a bit now, I really like it. Now, I don't rock climb or do any "serious" wheeling. I do trail ride though, explore, use the Runner' for recreation, and do drive on the beach a LOT for surf fishing spots you just can't get to by foot. This kit fits my needs perfectly.
For the price of just under $300 bucks and my needs, its great. The added height on light trails is great but moreso the 33's I am now able to run while in beach sand aired down is night and day amazing to my 31s. I float right through a lot of stuff I used to and others get bogged down in. Not to mention, the added height does look nice too.
It's all about what your needs are, I wouldn't say RC is junk at all, just probably not good at all for serious stuff.
