Differential work requires some pretty specialized tooling. Are you set up with the proper measuring devices? If not, I would seriously recommend having it done by a competent shop. Differentials are one of the things I wouldn't do as a garage mechanic, simply because doing it right requires to much of an investment in tools.
 
I have a torque wrench and access to a press.I'm a licensed diesel mechanic with a full set of hand tools and access to shop tools at my place of employment.
