96 T4R Fuel Filter Glitter Residue

So I replaced the fuel filter on my T4R. Hadn't changed it in a while and sure enough it was pretty dirty. But one weird thing I noticed was that the dirty fuel had some type of shavings in it. Very similar to very tiny glitter particles. Does anyone know what these shavings or glitter looking substance can be??

That's was my initial thought. I'll go ahead and stick with that one. Lol!!
