97 4cylinder 3RZ-FE distributor?

I could find nothing anywhere so Im soliciting your help
Im wondering if my Runner has a distributor? Rock Auto has one for my year and engine but I see nothing that resembles this under the hood-
I attached a pic...Im getting ready to change plugs but am confused what the wires are going into..
Sorry in advance if this is a BIG idiot question :/

i do believe those are coil packs i did looking around and from the pic you posted and what i found online they look like coil packs here is what i found hope it helps

Yes those are coil packs, I have them on my 2000 2rz Tacoma.

95.5 Tacoma's and 96 4Runner and Tacoma had the distributor, 97 was the first year of distributorless ignition.

Ah, that explains alot. I didn't realize they changed it from 96 to 97.

I ran into this when searching for plug wires. I read there were three versions. One distributer, one with the coil packs like above and one with coil packs right on top of the spark plug.

Good point, I think they went to coil-on-plug in 2000 or 2001.

So im having a tough time finding the spark plug wires for my 2000 3rz 4cyl. I have no distributor? They plug directly to my Ignition Coil and I see the wires all come together inside a plastic heat shield casing, and appers to run over into my passenger side glove box.

I'm getting a P0300 and was going to change spark plugs, coils, and wiring harness. But I can't seem to find the right spark plug wires- that plug in like a wiring harness clip.

So no change out on these wires?

Unless your engine has been replaced with a much earlier 3rz-fe (which had a distributor) or a post-2000 engine from a Tacoma (which will have coil-on-plug, COP) you have two coils, each with two leads, mounted on the engine block.

If you've got either of the other arrangements, considerable rewiring was done to make this happen. Or maybe it has some strange aftermarket "improved" ignition system.

I've owned a 2000 4-cylinder 4Runner for 19 years, so I've looked at that engine many times. Mine still has the NGK wires a previous owner installed. It now has 240,000 miles.

Don't forget to check your 3rz-fe engine's valve clearances.
