97 limited sunroof won't open.

Hello I recently purchased a t4r and one thing that's bugging me is that the sunroof isn't opening. I push slide and the window doesn't move but you can hear something going on in the control area, tilt does nothing at all, no sound. Could someone please tell me how I might be able to fix this problem without going to a Toyota dealer. Thanks.

If you hear a sound from the switch area my guess is that the motor is out. However I have had a sunroof problem with my 99 4runner and it turned out to be slightly out of alignment. Try spraying some WD-40 to see if it's just jammed up. maybe alittle muscle too. If that doesn't get it to budge then I'd bet on the motor. Have you checked fuses?

No I haven't checked the fuses yet, might be a good idea, I just opened up the control area and found a bunch of electrical tape and zip ties, odd....

Also curious to see what you find out. Same deal with my 4runner, it wont open, moves a little but nothing other than that

Mine expired a while back as well. I've been too lazy to tear into it.
