Will I have any issues? The motor in my sister's 01 just blew a rod and I happen to have a 98 motor in the garage. From what I have read I should be fine but wanted to double check.
Yeah, all '98s were one-cat Federal style emissions and all '01s were Cali.-style two-cat systems, which means the ECMs expect different front exhaust sensors---the Cali.s use wideband air-fuel sensors.
Can be done, you just have to use the right combination of pieces of ECM, harness, manifold and exhaust/sensor. All one, or all the other.
Probably easiest to go all '01 and keep existing manifold, ECM, exhaust/sensor and harness.
EDIT: I forgot--"01 is throttle-by-wire. You will have to switch over your existing throttle body, too.
