99 tall coils; making sure I am ordering correctly

I am going to get the '99 Talls to add some small lift and keep stock ride...

need to verify as well can I use new kyb gas a just shocks with these or will they be too short?

From another thread I have the part #s, and am going to order through Camelback Toyota Parts - Genuine OEM Parts - Free Shipping

Part Numbers:
Front right 48131-35400 L=368mm
Front left 48131-35350 L=374mm
Rears ( same for both ) 48231-35210

Color Codes:
Fronts: Blue/Pink & Blue/Yellow
Rears: Green/Red

The questions I have here are:

I am assuming I need to make sure I order from the 1999 4runner, do I need to order the 4wd to ensure I get the "tall coils" or do I just order from the 2wd (i have a 2k1 2wd sagging)?

front right is the passenger side & front left is the drivers side, correct?

is there any reason if I order these coils from a 99 I wont get the talls?

Any additional info would great before I order, thanks

That gave me nearly 2" of lift since the old springs were sagging some.

Looking forward to seeing if the fronts are correct, since I need to do those next.

Looks like you are quoting from one of my posts. If you want the tall springs, you had better order those part numbers and specify 4WD (and 16-inch wheels, if anybody asks.) There are shorter springs sold for '99's with 15-inch wheels and all 2WD's, none of which got the tall springs from the factory.

Thing is, I have no idea how the 4WD springs fit on a 2wd. The rear factory springs on the '99 2WD are not the same part numbers as the 4WD:
48231-35130 (11/1995 - 06/1998)
48231-35190 (07/1998 - 01/2001)
I can assume that the 48231-35130 are the tallest stock springs for a 2WD 3G 4Runner, but I don't know how they compare to the 4WD springs, in height or otherwise. My guess is shorter, because MY '99 and '01 are the same. Those are probably shorter than the MY '95-'98 springs.

The 2wd MY 2001 came with two options in the rear:

48231-35190
48231-35250 W(265/70R16 TIRE)

The 35250 will be the taller of the two, but I don't know how it compares to the 35130.

You really need to hear from a 2wd owner who has put the tall springs on his rig. Sorry I could not clear it up but I know nothing about 2wd suspensions. I have no idea about the shocks. The factory used the same shocks for all years, but the 2wd and 4wd are different. I would not have answered but I did not want to leave you with zero feedback.

Hey - I know this thread is from about 9 yrs ago, but I was wondering if you did indeed use the 99 Tall coils on your 2001 2wd. I have the same rig and want to use those taller springs too.
Looks like you answered someone previously by saying you went with "stock coils." I'm not sure if that means you stuck with 2001 springs or went ahead with 99 Talls.
If you did use the 99's, do you remember running into any issues with installation because of the taller springs?

I put 99 talls on my 1998 4wd and they worked without issues. Just sagged in a few years though. Need some members in the 2wd to verify. I think they will work but let's have others verify

I put moog '99 talls front and back on my '99 2wd with kybs. The ride is good, everything fits fine. I don't expect them to last as long as the OEM springs that had 400k on them but they are cheap enough to replace when needed.

My OEM 99 Talls 4wd didn't last a few years before they sagged. So, I gave up on talls because the price is a premium for them not to last...

They will work just fine on a 2WD, though the front should be a bit higher than expected since there is no diff up there weighing things down. I lost 1/2-3/4" of height up front when I did the 4WD swap before modifying the suspension.

I would think OME 906 springs in the rear would be a better choice. I have the stock ‘99 tall coils up front, and OME 906 rear springs, and it’s about perfect. Had them for probably 10 years now and they don’t sag, even when towing my boat.

EDIT: I meant to say OME 906, have edited to reflect.

my current 3rd gen when I bought it had a sagging butt. It was factory talls ( highlander version) the same week I bought it someone put Moog talls, new in box, on craigslist. It was convenient at the time, figured it would get me through a year. put them on with new kyb gas adjust Its been 2 now. However I will not replace with moogs and would prob do the ome.
