99 window issues

Issues with 99 4runner

Just purchased a 99 limited, overall in good shape but has a few issues

1, Front passenger window will randomly roll down unless the windows have been locked.

2. Rear passenger window doesn't roll down at all.

3. I know it's common but I've got the gas gauge reading empty even on a full tank.

Any ideas where I should start on these problems?

Thanks

My 99 had gas gauge issues showing empty, was mother board on gauge cluster, swapped one out from a junker, mileage of donor comes with it though. Windows sounds like wiring issue, I'd trace the wires, look for shorts and test continuity. I had some weird issues related to wiring because someone wired in an alarm messed up. Also had a broken ground strap behind right tail light. Its a process of elimination. Good luck.

Gas gauge as above. For rear window, first check wire harness between liftgate and body by the hinge. Wires inside flex and break or short all the time.

Front window will be a pain to isolate. Unplug door switch and see if it stops. If it does, replace. If not, trace wiring. If no joy, repeat on driver side.
