9th Gen Corolla Engine?

Anybody know it the 9th gen Corolla engines are any good?

Apparently the 8th gen pistons ports plugged up and caused the rings to fail. Then the engine would burn a lot of oil and need to be rebuilt. The ports plugged up because the pistons ran hotter than Toyota thought they would which caused the oil to slug and plug the ports.

As a solution in the 9th gen, Toyota apparently added more ports or made them bigger (or did both). Anybody know if this worked?

I believe it did work. We also have an '07 Corolla, which replaced a '00 Corolla, that died for the reasons you describe. All research I could find online pointed to the problem being fixed. It has 126k miles now and shows no signs of burning oil like the '00.
