A build thread of some sort

Bought my runner 5 months ago and I really like the truck so far. Gotten used to sitting a little higher than inches form the pavement. Ive Done a few things to it so I figured I would get a build thread going as I plan to do some more.

When i first got it, with some snow tires. I put in a new windshield (which cracked already) and new headlights.

Outfitted the trunk a little. An MTX 12, with 300w MTX amp. Sleeping gear, flashlight, and a small jerry.

Added a cheap tip to the exhaust to match the chrome, was too lazy to wash the truck today so it looks dingy.

First big purchase for it yesterday was some 265 75 16 duratracs.

Got them on the truck and i think they look great compared to the 245 snows I had on there from original purchase. Painted the center caps black as well.

Up next...

And hopefully more to come. Some small things like changing the shiftknobs, thinking either a weighted type r knob like I had in my past honda, or a neochrome ball for the shifter and an 8 ball for the transfer case. Bigger things on the wishlist are a suspension lift and a roof cage.

P.S. I know I need to loose the running boards as they are rusty and ugly but the vehicle needs to stay elderly friendly for the time being. Gotta help my grandma from time to time and its already difficult enough for her to get in.

Tires make a huge difference in the look.

I vote no to "type R" parts on the 4Runner

Nice Runner! Regarding the running boards, I had the same problem with getting rid of them cuz I was my Gma's primary caretaker and she had enough trouble getting into my truck with them on, let alone if I ditched them. But the second I moved and was no longer responsible for her, I ditched the running boards, got an SS 1.2 lift kit, and went with Hankook Dynapro ATs 305/70R16. That was such a magnificent day. Anyway, good luck with the build and post more pics! And if it's a good enough idea, I'll probably steal it.

Ya those are some pretty sweet shiftknobs. I'm so up in the air for that department. No type R parts though eh, I just like the weighted knob, such a smooth shift.

As for the car in the garage its my dads.

Also picked up a set of these today. Don't want to loose the new rubber.

Thanks. I take her out to do stuff every week usually, she needs those boards. She will be moving into assisted living soon so then they will torn off. Hopefully I can lift it soon as well. If I come up with something stealworthy be my guest, I'm all about idea sharing.

Well the ricer in me has come out. I ordered one of these shift knobs today

Its a Blox 490 limited edition neo chrome weighted knob. Very similar to the TWM Abrams M1 but a fraction of the price. Just glad the thread pitch is the same as a WRX so there were some "tuner" options out there. Hopefully it doesnt take forever to show up.

New shift knobs have arrived!

I'm happy with the decision, was on the fence if the neo chrome would be too flashy. Also put in a new windshield this week, no need for a pic of that.

Well, I was out west for a good chunk of winter. Finally got my chance to mess about in some slushy snow with the duratracs yesterday. Made a quick edit of some of the footage I got with my go pro.
