A/C Refresher??

I haven't taken the time to read all of the replies you've received so I apologize if this has been said. I had a funky mildew smell coming from my vents a few weeks ago so I took it to Keith Peirson in Orange Park. They did the A/C Refresh kit and the smell completely went away. Matter of fact, the air coming out of my vents now smells like a new car again. From what I understand, the refresh is a sanitize of your A/C system and Evap coils. I highly recommend it.

Every now and then I get a mildew smell. I take that as it’s time to change the filter if I haven’t already changed it recently and it goes away. They are very cheap so I usually change it every other month or so.

He needs that service ASAP or else the A/C could stop working while he’s on a trip and we wouldn’t that to happen.

We had that happen on a desert trip with grandma, (not in a Toyota) gave her a baggie with ice in it. She put it on her head. Looked funny since the remains of lunch were still in the bag.

Compressor locked up, 3 belt system, cut the belt and continued.
Larned how to replace a compressor and evacuate and charge the system.

sounds like a Chevy Chase movie...I'm picturing family vacation..

It gets sprayed into the vents with the A/C on, it’s suppose to clean out the evaporator and give it a nice fresh scent. I doubt they would charge so little to evacuate and recharge the system. You won’t get any benefit out of it.

Ditto, I have had this done on my wife’s 2008 Lexus ES350 several times over the years as they are notorious for developing a musty smell. It actually gets squirted up thru the drain line that removes the condensation you see on the ground when A/C is used. Price was $60. BTW Lexus dealer wanted $110, hence one of many reasons her’s get serviced by Toyota dealer. OBTW her car has never had a A/C cooling problem in the nearly 13 yrs it has been around.

I have joked with her if it ever is a problem, I have a fix in mind.
