ABR Sidewinder, dual batt tray GROUP BUY

Ok, I am not vested in ABR in any way. I am offerring this as a courtesy to members (and for good karmaray.

I know some members shy away from ABR because he only accepts wire transfer for payment and shipping prices can be high out of Austrailia.

I just placed and received an order from ABR (1 week turnaround from payment to delivery from Austrailia). Price of all the products ordered was about $550 and shipping was a little over $100.00 - nothing terrible IMHO. Derek Bester from ABR was cool to work with and all went smoothly.

Derek stated that he would offer a discount (15-30%) depending on size of order. I make no guarantee, but, if you are in anyways a discount will only sweeten the deal.

If enough members get in on this order shipping will be a non-issue. I will take the lead and make payment and accept delivery and then deliver to you via USPS, UPS, or meet you within a reasonable commute from Derby, Kansas

I will keep all vested members included on all to/from ABR emails once the process starts rolling.

Take a look at the website (he has a lot of gear) and make your list. I will keep one rolling post with all requested items per member.

Place a tentative date of March 21 (3 weeks) to have all requests in. You will need to pay up front for items before I place your item(s) in the final request.
Once finally gear tally has been made I will get final shipping amount and divide amount by all who have placed order.
Once final funds are received I will send order in and wire money to ABR.

Good on you! You may want to check out the previous GB for cost estimates along with some names of those who missed out. Good luck with getting a discount, to be honest he was kind of a jerk with me but the trays are good to go, he shipped fast and all else was exactly as he said.

I believe what you have listed is what you need EXCEPT the battery cradle is not right. Refer to the Prado 150 link below.

Here is what I ordered for aux battery install

1- Prado 150 Series Battery tray (drop in for the 5th gen).
Battery Trays & Clamps
1- Dual Battery Management Promo (Sidewinder and LCD Monitor).
Summer Specials
2- "trip type" breakers so to do my own setup.
Fuses & Breakers
4 x Terminals (2 +, 2 - to match both batts)
Lugs and Terminals
Wiring I already have. Although ABR pricing is not too bad

I ordered more than listed above; however, I limited info to your question.

I will plug the "Type 1 switch - Suits Prado 150" (that I believe matches to our 5th Gen - I will check mine this eve). The switches ABR lists are far cheaper than any I have found eleswhere.

It might be better to get the tray only, and get a dual battery controller kit that is readily available stateside in case you ever have problems with it.

I went with the ABR tray and the IBS dual battery controller.

The cost of the IBS system was far too much for me to consider (I think it was 3 bills?). Nevertheless it is an option and something to consider.

I did the same and have had no problems with it at all. The IBS system is awesome and works really well.

You can buy any terminal type on there (or even from a local store). I purchased from ABR for simplicity and that I really like the look of the "Fused Positive Terminal" and the negative "Insulated Battery Terminal." Both are "Toyota style"

The trip breaker is akin to a GFCI in your home. If amp load is over allotted amount the breaker will trip. Similar to a fuse but you only have to reset breaker not replace. The breaker is not required, but for safety reasons, you would be best advised to at least fuse your positive wire nearest battery. I am using one for my aux battery. (Again, these can be purchased elsewhere as with batt terminals above)

The switch I will use for my fog lights. I have a set of OTRATTW switches and the ABR switch will be additional (plus, it fits exactly in the empty slot on dash).

If so, maybe I can order this kit, the battery tray, and the Dual Battery monitor. So, the total list would look like this?

Looks good to me. Except for protecting battery by fuse or breaker on positive.

If the batteries are less than 1.8m (6ft) apart and the wiring is done well there is no need to fuse the battery cables.

You will need to fuse any accessories wired to the batteries as normal.

Shawn did not mention full isolator kits, the wire is heavy and will affect the total freight cost, I think it would be better for members to buy what they need but not include any wire.

Good feedback, thanks. Yes, like I had said earlier you can always get cables local and to add, as Derek mentioned, weight will be a factor.
I will fuse my batt cable - cant hurt.

First off, thanks for taking the initiative to try and set this up for the rest of us!

Secondly, may I ask a simple question regarding the battery tray...it seems like the only modification required is cutting the P/S bracket a bit, and the rest is bolt on?

Third, I've been reading about this tray for almost half a year already and I only realized just now that it's ABR, not ARB brand ::redbrick:
