ABS & Traction COntrol Problem

Just joined today and I am desperate for some help. My wife has a 2001 SR5 4WD 4Runner Sport Edition. For the last 3 or 4 months the ABS "beeping" has come on when making a turn. Sometimes a sharp turn while going fast. sometimes a very slight turn while going slow. It basically comes on at anytime but I can't make it come on. The only thing that seems to have made it stop was lowering the tire pressue. This worked until yesterday when we did a 360 in the parking lot of Walmart. it was just inspected, the tires have 15,000 miles on them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just joined today as well with the same issue in the same car (but sr5)

Check out my thread:
Traction Control/VSC problem

To sum it up, this is an issue with the traction control and VSC (vehicle stability control).

It seems like the temporary fix and the safe bet is to do the Andy Mod 2.0 which will allow you to disable traction control, thus stopping the ABS and VSC.

You could also try doing a zero point calibration (resetting VSC)

Andy Mod seems like a must do. I guess the TC system in the 01-02 is pretty sensitive and can happen when you don't want it.

VSC could be the culprit, but I suspect it could also be a computer malfunction or broken parts/drive (bearings, warped rotors, alignment, etc).

Going to try Andy Mod and zero point tomorrow and I will let you know how it goes. In my case my bearings are bad (and TC sensor connects to them) so this is most likely the issue as far as mechanical goes.

solved same issue

Sorry for the late response.
Did zero point calibration and solved issue of skid light beeping and engaging brakes when I wasn't skidding.
Did Andy Mod 2.0 and now leave traction control off full time so I never have to worry about it
