Acceleration problem

I drive a '97, 4WD, 5 speed with 160k on it. I'm experiencing a pronounced "hesitation" or drag as I accelerate through the gears. The tach shows a smooth increse in RPM though each gear, but the I can feel the drag.

I changed the plugs and wires, fuel filter and air filter. Put a can of BG in a couple of tanks ago and noticed a little improvement (I think). I though these things would take care of it.

Any suggestions?

check/clean the MAF. i had a lot of drag like that before my CEL went on a while ago.
