Two problems with disconnected sway bar. First, as you pointed out parts floating around back there. I was thinking if you were to drill a hole in the bolt where the nut goes and then slide a pin in there so it comes off easily, less to flop around.
Second, if the sway bar is unhooked then you need to tie it up as when you flex it hits your shiny new control arms. Sounds horrible but it never really did any damage to mine.
If you tie it up to the frame, now you're connected again. So it defeats the purpose. I couldn't find any way to tie it so it doesn't bind when flexing.

Edit: Oh, he has double disconnects. Did you get those? If not, easy to convert. Still have issue with sway bar flopping around though.

I've got single disconnect. But I'm thinking of just zip tie-ing the connections in place when i disconnect them. Same goes for keeping the swaybar in place, I did that for the past 5 months and the zipties didnt fail.

Adam, your ride looks fantastic. I followed your gen2 build and loved it.

I know what you mean by the SB links floating, as I don't have them and considered the front. Same concerns I had about reconnecting them. Might decide to bump up to 886 coils and leave the bar off myself.
FYI.... Jon has been doing some snow runs/playing up in Bowman Lake area frequently. He posts up on FB. I have a few repairs to do, so not running them for awhile.

I'd be afraid to have no front sway in a emergency accident avoidance situation. Glad you like my threads!

As for Jon, who is jon? I love the bowman area and would love to accompany some new faces.....

Yeah, I understand where your coming from on the SB removal. Still feels like stock with all the weight, just a little more lean/roll on turns w/out bar. I'm just tired of doing the on/off with it street/off road. my thinking going to 886 made for v8 w/weight might give enough stiffness with out the bar, yet keep the flexing.

Preliminary Drawer Design :whoo:

Alright guys, with all of the camping and expeditioning i've been up too, I concluded that the next best mod would be some drawers.

Below are the initial plans.

• It would be a 4 piece modular system.
• The two side pieces will be permanent with wiring for power, compressor, and then water outlet on the driver side.
• The center two drawers would be removable.
• The shallow slider drawer on the right, will be attached to the drawer above it. It will house a partner steel stove & a (either flip or slide out) cutting board.
  (See below picture to see what I mean. It will display how it "extends" from the drawer above it)

I'm envious of your rig, especially the rack. I have a question- is the front of the rack just free-floating, or do you have it attached near the windshield behind the wind deflector somehow?

haha thanks man! & no I do not. Just the three Gobi Rack mounts. (they mount where the stock rack is connected, along with additional supports above the B-Pillar.

I'm guessing there are some supports under the rack on the roof. Is there any flex up front, or does the tubing keep that from happening? I'd be worried that a heavy load in the front on a bumpy road might cause wiggle and damage to the roof and rack.

Haha yeah Im guilty of that. Used to have spots all around my neighborhood to go rip pit bikes and offroad, plus go kart down the street, but some recent legal trouble has put a halt on all that haha. Good times though

Yea its set level. They're cranked up a pretty decent amount, but I may be changing that by about 1/4 inch this weekend to spare my CV's a little bit and still get some good action out of the coils.
