Adding Extra Roof Cross Bars

Has anyone added additional roof crossbars?

Might look kinda funny, but I think I could use another set to make it easier to run ski racks and bike racks at the same time.

Does Toyota sell the OEM cross bars for the 4th Gen?

Looks like $264 plus shipping. Pricey!

I wonder if that is for one crossbar or both?

You want to sell your old ones?

It looks like $126 for just one bar and $3 here and there for it's attachment pieces and then $236 for both bars??

FYI...That is for ONE complete crossbar (bar & assembly - basically plug and play). I just went through this as well. This approx price was verified direct though my local dealer.

My solution.... I ended up buying a complete rack for 130 shipped from another member on here. Now I have a set of side rails along with the 2 additional crossbars.

Just keep your eyes on the classifieds here. Something will turn up at some point.

My understanding is that the Sport is slightly different than the SR5/Limited, but I can not confirm that. I have a Limited and CAN confirm the crossbars from the SR5 do work. I have an 08 Limited. My donor rack was an 08 SR5.

Hope that helps.

hhmm, I think it is $126 for the bar, $35 (x2) for the adapters, then hardware odds and ends.

That's what it looked like to me as well. If you want to do some checking on shipping coming from 68130. I'll consider selling mine to you. PM if you're interested.

And note: you may come across something like this perusing different Toyota sites: Cross Bars PT278-89060-CB

Don't fall for it. It is actually 1 bar(the bar ONLY for a much older 4R). I ordered it under the assumption the description was correct, 2 complete crossbar assemblies. I ordered from Camelback since it was same price as others and then ended up going in to return it since they are my local "go-to" dealership.

That's when I found out the real cost of the crossbar assembly. The parts guy and I both laughed in awe at the price.

Happy hunting. I think the additional crossbars are useful versus going a full rack at times. I have both depending on the situation.
