Adding Leather Seats

I just picked up my first 4runner over the weekend. A two row 2008 SR5 with the stone cloth interior, front seats have side airbags. I've been reading quite a bit on the forum and being pretty handy I would like to install some gray leather seats.

I see where quite a few members found good quality covers for $300-$400 and put them in themselves. I cant seem to find anything less than $600-$1000+. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I would like to find the ones that are not covers, but rather replacments where I would first remove the cloth covers.

These look really good and they do custom work as well. Their gallery does not show any of the custom stitching or custom leather options. Have you seen pics of the custom leather work they do?

Yes, I got the same reply from that seller. I didnt realize the 60/40 split is reversed on the 3rd row models. Does anyone know about quality of the Clarisso leather seats?

OP, I think you are looking for katzkin (sp). Although I don't have them I hear they are the way to go, you take off the existing covers and put theirs on. While you're at it add seat heaters as well.

Congrats on your purchase btw! V6 or V8 ?
 
bluesurf, i believe the last ones u posted are the same as what gn86r found & at the price quoted to him it seems like a good deal. as far as the katskins, i have em myself & while they are very good the cost is more than the 400 $ range u set , maybe around 700+ but u would have to check.
 
I think i'll send the seller another email... Maybe if we get enough orders we can get a t4r.org discount.

anyone else besides me and bluesurf looking for a set?

Katzkin is just a brand that makes the OEM replacement covers. There are others out there. The ebay auction that I had listed for the black set is run by leatherseats.com. I've seen pretty good reviews on their seats on clublexus and supraforums in the past.

These would be different than the Clazzio. These actually replace the old cloth on your seats and you must remove the old covers. Clazzio is just a custom fit slip cover.

Oh I must be mistaken, I thought with Clazzio, you would have to remove the old and install the new with bull rings.

This is a good idea, the seller seems accomodating. I've been asking a lot of questions and so far, very helpful. I asked them if they would send me the stone color swatch so I can confirm it matchs up. Stay tuned.

Had to go with the V6 for the gas mileage, happy making the jump. I have never owned an SUV before, let alone a 4 door car! I was always afraid an SUV would be like driving a boat around, but these 4runners are agile and fun to drive.
 
I bought Katzkins on Ebay for $300.00 shipped, new, I posted the link on here if you do a search, found someone on craigslist to come to my house and install them for $80 bucks I think, he said it would be like 4hrs, took him closer to 6 or 7, but he wasn't exactly fast paced.
 
Heard back from the seller today. He didnt mention anything about the price, but he did say you can order any color from their color swatches shown on the ebay link. It would be $20 extra for two tone. I also inquired about color stitching and perforated leather as well.
