Adio3x - learned some lessons

Just thought I'd post up a brief summary of my experience purchasing some king coilovers and shocks from Adio3x.

Andrew shipped them promptly, no issues there. They were packed well enough and arrived with no box damage, etc.

The shocks were not as described. There was no mention in any of our discussions of them needeing rebuilt, corrosion damage, etc. When they arrived, two of the reservoir brackets needed repair due to rust. The rear shock bodies are pitted and corroded. There was pitting and rust on two of the shafts which required replacement. The lower spherical joints needed replaced on the shocks as well. All 4 shocks had zero fluid in them and needed to be completely rebuilt and all seals replaced.

I spent an additional $700.00 dollars in parts, labor, and shipping, to have these shocks repaired. The rear shock bodies are still corroded because I didn't have an additional $200.00 to replace those as well at this time. Thankfully that will not hinder performance, and I will have these replaced at the next servicing.

Part of this is my fault. I should have assumed nothing and asked the questions about corrosion, etc. I did not do that. However I feel that a seller has a responsibility to adequately describe the condition of the product they are selling. That did not happen in this case. While Andrew says that he doesn't know anything about suspension, etc, I feel that this sort of damage should have been obvious enough to disclose. That is just my opinion, but as I am now out around $2300.00 I feel I have earned the right to say that.

What did the pics showed you look like? Post 'em up.

I'm not going to cause a scene here, it was a mistake on my part and im not going to hide from it. I really had no information about these besides the mileage and what you can see in the picture. I bought them from a dealership, who had bought them from a guy I know, who also knows nothing about suspension. They sat in a box on my shelf for a few months, before I sold them to Ryan. I never handled them, besides showing them to my tech the day I got them, who told me the rears needed to be rebuilt. Besides that, I really had no idea of the internal condition of the shocks. The way I see it is, you still got quite a deal, didn't sell them for my original asking price (which was $1800), and they were around $4300 new. Again, I apologize for my ignorance, I'm still learning.

*Edit: Ok, after looking through my messages, I never mentioned to you that the rears needed to be rebuilt, I thought I did, but I didn't. But you pointed out that the rears needed to be rebuilt and you got a quote from a shop, which is then when you offered me your new price. I know the condition of the rears were never fully spoken about prior to the sale, but I just wanted to state that we did talk about a rebuild and you did get them for a lower price because you had to get them rebuilt.

These were the pics I put up. I also posted that they would not come with any hardware & what you see in the pictures is what you get.

Andrew, thank you for chiming in. I got your PM, and I appreciate your concern and honesty. I think we were both placed in a bad position with this, and someone got to eat the cost of our ignorance. Unfortunately for me, it was me. But, life goes on, I have some fun suspension (albeit a little ugly in the back) to throw on my wife's 4runner. Best of luck to you in your future endeavors.

Move along. Nothing to see here....just two adults actually acting like adults.

I was expecting to see blood here, glad you guys both acted like decent human beings.
