Adjusting Fox 2.5 Ride Height

So I had Fox my suspension installed with a 2" rear spring. Told the installer that I wanted about 1" of rake, but measuring there is about .5",basically looks level.

Anyways..

Is adjusting the ride height, lowering it .5" -.75" as simple as measuring, lifting front end, measuring, using a spanner wrench and spinning the top locking collar counter-clockwise to lower the ride ? I have maybe 3" of thread showing on the top of the collar. Or,is that top collar adjustment just for preload and has nothing to do with ride height ?

Trying to learn, but not a lot of info out there regarding these shocks. The shop that put the suspension in doesn't specialize in it,so I would rather learn the tuning myself.
