Sorry to hear. Dog's can be more family then family sometimes. I remember putting my pup down about a year ago and it was the hardest thing to do (he had liver issues). Stay strong and enjoy the time you still got.

I'm sorry to hear about the diagnosis. Remember the moments you've already shared and really enjoy the future ones yet to come...
I often wish looking back I would have taken more video of my chocolate lab and us together before he left my life... Pictures can only do some much to capture the connection/bond between a dog and their favorite person/people.

Loss of a friend
I found this a while ago and have thought it to be applicable.
It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them,
and every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart.
If I live long enough all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become
as generous and loving as they are.

I so sorry Corey man this about hardest thing out there besides family which they are even more so because they give & ask nothing in return but our love ! Carry on big boy ! You'll have more & they'll make you remember all of them that much more ! In all serious ness I hope they have something like this for me when it's my time . Peace

I'm so sorry. The hardest part of having a dog is knowing from the start that your time with them will be significantly less than with another human, but to have either taken early is excruciating. Ridgies have such soulful eyes, and I'm sure every time you look at a picture of him you can be comforted by the memories you've made and the good life you gave him.

Corey, I am so sorry to read of your loss. It was harder for us to handle the loss of our two dogs, put down together at age 15, than it was some of our human relatives. They were with us on our adventures, traveled cross country with us, lived near D.C., then in a cabin on a mountainside in Idaho and finally on acreage in Wyoming. No one else shared our lives the way they did.

I love all dogs more than most people, so when something like this happens, it really gets to me. I've followed most of this post and read all of the pup stuff... (severe lurker). I'm so sorry... brought more than one tear to my eyes.

Now that the fog is starting to lift, I wanted to personally Thank you all for your outpouring of kind words. I received many messages here on my thread as well as many private messages. I appreciate the love felt here, Thank you so much it means a lot to me. I was able to clear my head enough yesterday to write some things down on Instagram about him and send him on his way. This will be my last post about him as I need to heal. Thank You all again.
You were loved in a different way, as you did not start your life with us. I did the best I could to accommodate your grieving when you came to live with me. Eventually you fell in love, not with me, but with my dear Mika. She loved you back as only she could. I never knew how much I too loved you, until it was too late. You were the most handsome boy I'd ever laid my eyes on. One could see into your soul through your dark brown eyes. You weren't interested in the same activities as the other dogs, but you were happy to hold down the sofa and snuggle. You weren't like the girls, you were a pleaser. You were an excellent show dog and easily earned your title of Champion. Your mere presence was terrifying to anyone who didn't know that you were everyone's friend. Anyone who met you, fell immediately in love with you. You loved the sun, and would find a sliver even on a cool day to bask in its warmth. Your face began to grey after moving twice in a year, but you adjusted as long as you had us. You were fearless, brave and smarter than anyone gave you credit for. Farewell, sleep well sweet boy. You are already deeply missed.

I finally had the chance to get to Rausch Creek today with a Jeep group. My truck felt big and fat compared to their Jeeps but she never let me down. By far the toughest trails I've been on.
Sooooooo- where are all the trail pictures? We want pictures!
