Advice..I want a Toytec kit.

Hey guys I need some advice or reviews on the Toytec adjustable coilover kit with Bilstein 5100 shocks. I like the idea that I can adjust it because I am a daily driver but every weekend I go off roading. Have any of you guys used this or had it? Any problems that you know of? I know Toytec has a good rep but I would like to know what you guys think. Thanks, hope your Runners are goin strong!

well, they are a great kit for offroading... and I have found them to be great on pavement as my DD also..

You are supposed to get an alignment every time you adjust them....so that might discourage you from adjusting them all the time. I just installed mine on my 2000 this weekend. I got the standard spring rate, I would say it is just slightly more stiff than stock. The installation was pretty straight forward, of course I had access to a lift and every tool immaginable. The back is the hardest part to lift. I could answer any specific questions you have. The only problem I ran into was with the procomp shocks in the rear, the rubber bushings on the top were too thick to start the nut on the shock.....

So adding bigger tires THEN changing the gearing will bring your MPG back to stock expectations?

No, you won't ever get stock mpgs again. It'll be more like splitting the difference. You also have to factor in that your speedo/odometer will read about 7-8% slow with bigger tires and gears. According to my odometer, I go about 225 miles on 14 gallons of gas which is about 16 mpg. Now, if I add 7% to 225 miles, I'm really getting about 240 miles on 14 gallons which is a little over 17 mpg. I got the 7% figure based off of how slow my speedo was reading compared to my buddy's GPS at 70 mph.

Toytec is GREAT

I have done business with Doug at Toytec for years, and he is 150% reliable and does everything to make your purchase work perfectly. My latest purchase was an entire OME setup for my 01 runner. Worked out beatifully and price was right! No worries about Toytec whatsoever!

I want to get a wider stance also, how do i do that? wheel spacers? and should i get a skid plate? I know there is a stock one but i dont want anything to get damaged just because I don't have a good one.

You will see when you do the front diff drop, the stock skid plate is fairly beefy. And a lift will make installation much easier.
