Aftermarket Auto-Start, T4R still turns off after opening door.

I've been reading this forum and many people are annoyed with the factory Auto-Start turning off when you open the door. A common reply was if you replace the factory autostarter with an aftermarket on the annoyance would go away.

So yesterday I had a Compustar Pro T11 installed on my 2015 T4R Limited and the problem is still there. The installed said it's by design and can't be bypassed.

It's not a huge problem and it makes sense as a safety feature so someone doesn't smash your window and drive off with it. Any ideas on what can be done? I

Thank you for that. From this post it seems like the Limited with the Smart-key is shit out of luck.

Aftermarket can add in Smart phone and desktop control capabilities. No shut down after the door opens on regular bladed key vehicles, this is called take over. It will still shut down on Limited Models with the smart key."

Remote start takeover is really easy on Limited! Unlock, open door, foot on brake and press the start button on the dash.

Anyways, the module for your vehicle is only turning on and using OEM remote start for Limiteds with PTS. They are able to manipulate some settings except shutdown with door open.

My dad's GMC doesn't do this. I'm not sure but I think there is some kind of lockout that will prevent the car from driving away without the smart key close by. No reason Toyota can't also have such a system.

It sucks, my Avalon has a aftermarket starting, but but would turn off if you pushed down on the brake pedal before inserting the key.....

That's pretty standard on autostarts. My Escalade and Nissan Titan are that way as well as my wife's 06 T4R.

Sorry, poor humor. I was making a joke. The engine shuts down, but starting it right back up is still pretty easy.

It doesn't make sense as a safety feature. The vehicle knows if the key is inside or not and as soon as you touch the brakes to get it out of Park it should shut off. That's how my wife's Ford Escape works. Shame that Toyota can't figure it out or doesn't care to.
