Aftermarket "Pro" grill

It's a filler piece that you would have to fill with body filler to make it look right. You would have a different mesh in the upper part than then lower section.... seems it would be easier to covert to the trd one

They offer a lower mesh to match the upper.

I thought there was a read where people were trying to do this exact thing, minus the mesh grill...

Oh and I fully agree it would be easier to buy the TRD parts for sure...at near 3 times the cost it better be. I know this wouldn't be for the straight bolt on guys.

Thanks for posting. I ordered just the grill cap cost $29 shipped. I want to see how well its made before ordering the mesh top half from toyota. I also did not get the letters.

Just finishing up my "TRD Pro" mod, where do you see the letters? Any idea what they look like?

There a drop down that say includes letter for $60. Im going to leave mine blank or and cut vinyl letter later.

I saw this and thought it was awesome especially at that price. Then I looked at the instructions and saw just how much work is required. Ain't got no time for that. If you have the time looks pretty awesome though!

I would rather just go with the toyota option with the work involved with this one.

hi yes I saw the drop down. Can you tell me the size of the letters? I was interested in how they looked before purchasing.

I'm looking at the fj40 badge when mine is done, lots of sanding...

Here is a photo that I received from them when I inquired about the letters. They look very similar to the factory letters and mentioned that they needed to slightly bend them in order to fit the curvature of the panel.

I debated this for a while. Then determined that all the time involved was just not worth it. I did auto body for 10 years so it would have been a relatively easy project, but it was much easier to get the Toyota garnish (at a ridiculous price) and stick that on. Much quicker and much less messy. From the pics I have seen it does look good though.

I can tell you from my own project... the time is a huge part of making something other than the factory snap on cover.

For me, I have more nights and weekends "time" vs. $500 + for a snap on cover and upper grill.

I think I'm aproching about 40hrs into templates and finish work with still final fitment and finish to be done.

thanks! Do you think the letters will be tough to bend to the garnish bar shape?

I just set them on the side of my pal I used to wash the truck with and tapped them with a rubber mallet, worked like a charm.

The only thing with adding material is that you will need to buy the Pro grill. The TRD pro grill is 1/8 shorter in height to make up for the added material thickness of the pro garnish. This option allows you to retain your factory grill.

How can it be an 1/8" shorter and still fit?
