All Trails App

I have been using All Trails App for the last year or two and as the more users contribute the better it has gotten for off roading and trail riding.

It has offline mapping and trail layers for free and the Pro version has better map layers you can download.

What is anyone elses experience with All Trails App?

What is anyone else using for off line mapping and navigation for off roading, overlanding or trail riding.

I use it and like it a lot. My only issue is that it works in portrait mode only on the iPad. I had to modify the mount I use for off-road nav (linked in my sig for anyone interested) to hold my iPad vertically. Otherwise, AllTrails is pretty good.

I was using All Trails and switched to Gia
Hiking Trail Maps, Hunting Units, 4x4 Offroad App | Gaia GPS
It has a subscription and is more of an interactive map tool for sharing info and recording routes than All Trails.

You can download trails of other users to see where they went to verify the trail etc.
I drop waypoints all the time for possible future camping spots and trail notes. It synchs to my account and I can see it on my phone and when I get back to the PC to plan my next route.
There are a lot of threads on mapping tools around the forum.

+1 on GAIA. I have been using it for 3 years and as long as you have the area downloaded it works great when you don’t have cell service. I have it loaded on 2 IPhones and 2 IPads. When you use one device to record a trip it syncs with the others. Very easy to use.

I have been using Gaia for a few months and I like it. Ive never used all trails (or even heard of it). I may go ahead and give it a try, its always nice to have multiple options for trail maps.
