Almost stalling at stop n' go traffic 100+ temps

Good day everyone,

I have a problem with an almost stalling on my 4runner.

98 5spd manual SR5 with 140K miles. Car has new wires, sparks all OEM, new TPS, air filter, (Number 2 O2 censor) all done about 20K miles ago. MAF and throttle body cleaned about 15k miles ago. Fuel filter replace at 90K.

Where I live is very hot, temps reaching 110+ with 50% humidity. Car's idle shoots down to 100 ~ 200 in heavy traffic with AC on/or off. But acceleration smooth, no hesitation. But on stops/red lights, it wants to die on idle.

Possible IAC? or Second 02 censor as this car is from California orginaly... have not touched those yet.

Original muffler still on.

Any advise will help.

Good day BC914, yes that is absolutely correct. No issues not even a small move except when the AC compressor kicks in. But typically idles around 700sh level.

I will check, however you believe the excess outside heat in stop and go traffic will cause this to happen very randomly?

It almost feels like the fuel stops when the idle dies and jumps back to normal.

Only happens during stop n go really hot outside temperatures.

Forget outside temperature for a second. Does the car have the same issues when then engine is both hot and cold? Or does it seem to only happen after driving for a while?

iac,maf,gas cap,vac lines,fuel lines,plugs/wires, injectors, fubar'd , in that order.

make sure sensors are clean, gas cap is oem, vac lines are solid, gas lines are stock and not resting on the heads or other parts of the engine they shouldn't be, make sure your plugs and wires are of OEM brand and quality and finally make sure all of your injectors are firing properly.

It only happens when driving for a while, particularly for a very long time, long distance or idling too much in traffic.

It only happens when engine hot ie: normal operating temperature. Car temp never goes above the normal operating temp.

cap, maf, all clean, vacume lines checked no signs of leaks...did that twice and asked another neutral body to test.

Gas lines, filters, sparks, wires all OEM toyota.

I will check if anything resting on the on the heads or other parts of engine/tranny.

Have not checked injectors/IAC yet. Will order gasket first before looking at the IAC. Regarding Injectors, will a can of cleaner be sufficient?
