Altenator Choice?

My battery and ABS light have started coming on and more frequently recently. The battery is 3 months old, from what I suspected and then read here, the alternator is next.

Are you guys using OEM or Pure Energy?

Hey Jimmy,

Before you buy anything, test your charging system. If you have a multimeter, you can do it yourself. If not, go to an auto parts store like O'Reillys and let them test your batter and charging system for free. If it does show your charging system isn't providing a sufficient charge, there's a good chance it's just worn brushes in your alternator. The OEM Denso alternator is pretty robust and will be better than some aftermarket one you get at an auto parts store or online. If you can, repair your OEM Denso alternator.

You could also have some issues with your ground connections and the connections at your battery. Make sure your connections are corrosion free and tight.

Here's a video you can use to replace the alternator brushes if they are indeed worn down.

Rebuild your Denso or get another Denso, anything else is not going to hold up as long

I went cs-144 upgrade. Reman'd alt lasted a year. Replaced it under warranty. And is now sitting brand new in my parts bin.

I'm back in an oem denso and things are much easier.

i JUST replaced mine this weekend. I was getting +18v on my volt gauge. airbag, abs, and battery light were all coming on.

it is a real simple alternator to replace.

I first looked at my alt wire and it was beautiful and clean.
I then looked at my battery terminals, which were also clean and neat.
The battery is a year or two old and in good condition.

it took about 30min to replace.

my volts always seemed to fluctuate but now with the "new" alt. they stay rock solid at 14v
