Alternator charge warning light

Hi guys

I'm installing a split charge system so I can run a leisure battery in my truck (3RZ-FE 2.7l 5 speed) and charge both batteries from the alternator.

Instructions are good for the install, but it tells me I need to find the alternator charge warning light connector, so that the relay is switched off during cranking (i.e. when the charge warning light is on).

Anyone know which one that is on the alternator? Is it the main alternator terminal or one of the wires on the plug which goes into the voltage regulator on the back of the alternator?

Hoping that I don't need to splice into factory wiring!

On a '97 4Runner, and most others, it is the yellow-green wire on Pin 1 of the 3-wire connector (left-most with latch on top)

Also yellow on first-gens, so yes, most likely same on O.P.'s. However, best to verify with schematic.
Without the schematic, use multi-meter.
Ign switch in IGN position when charge light is on, there should be low voltage on this yellow wire... around 2V or less. When engine is running, hence alternator is on and charge light is off, this yellow wire will have 12V.
