So today per forum guidance, I installed a stage 2 AFE CAI. The only thing I've noticed so far is the sound. Other than that, honestly, I think I have less power.
I can tap the accelerator a few times and hear the air intake catching up. Slower than I am accelerating. Seems like the old air filter was fairly even with an accelerator tap. Also doesn't seem to have given me much hp. I went to the same stop sign yesterday and floored it. Got a little screech out the tires. No screech today. The engine was definitely louder and rattled my cab. Was awesome. But didn't feel like the car had improved performance wise.
How important is the seal to the side where the old air intake drew from?
I did the best I could with the baffle provided to wrap around the enclosure to ensure a tight seal. But after a spin it had come half undone. I may have to tape it on.
I know a lot of guys say to get the computer aligned for the extra air to compensate with more fuel intake. Is that the key to getting more power out of these? I want it believe it's got more juice but I can't let my ears be the judge, as awesome as it sounds.
The idle sounds fine. Right at 600. No sputters. It doesn't appear to be lean. Gas mileage seems to be about the same..
Any tips appreciated! I'm gritting 5100's put on next week and trying to track down some FJ springs. Thanks in advance!
