Hi. I've been reading many of the forums on here about doing new rotors and pads. I'm considering a TBU but also just considering new stock size rotors and pads. I can seem to find stock size for a lot less usually less than $100 rather than almost $350 for the TBU new. Does my vehicle have the smaller rotors than the limited 4runners? I had 15" wheels on mine when I bought it and its says 15" wheel on the door jam and mine is a 97 2wd SR5 as well. Just want help finding the right rotor size to order. But do you think I should upgrade to TBU? I now have 17" wheels on my truck and 265/70R17 on it now and really need to get new brakes done. Also lifting it 3" soon with all oem 4runner springs and shocks. I don't really ever tow, its my daily driver with just my 3 young boys in the truck. Any help would be great. Thanks.

You'd be fine with stock replacements.

The door sticker on almost all the trucks says 15" wheels/tires. So that doesn't really help.
If your truck had 15" wheels on it when you purchased it, it is a 15" wheel truck (many of the early 2WD base and SR5 trucks were). It will have smaller front discs, pads and calipers (and rear wheel cylinders). If you do go for stock replacements, make sure you get the 15" parts.
