Another clunk thread

Okay, did a search, which lead me to believe it could be almost anything making the noise.

I back out of my driveway, turning the wheel to the right, then put it in drive and turn the wheel left to straighten out to go down my street, and it clunks. It sounds like the front passenger side.

It only happens when it's cold, or the truck's been sitting for a while. After I'm out driving, I can't duplicate it.

Does anyone else think it's weird that it only happens when cool?

I wonder if its because its cold, or just the fact that you parked and things shifted and settled from driving. I just fixed my "CLUNK" a couple weeks ago. It ended up being my rear panhard bar. Go over that, and your rear control arms and make sure all is tight. My noise sounded like it was front passenger side, and would do it first thing in the morning when i was leaving for work pulling out of my driveway. Then wouldnt usually hear it again til I was heading home from work. Either way, check those things before you go spend money on replacing parts.

I proved mine was the panhard bar this past saturday because I finally welded the panhard bracket on and relocated my bar. Since the panhard bracket was so much wider than my panhard end itself, there was about a 1/2" play, front to back. So I left it like that just to see. Pulled out and hit a bunch of whoops in the parking lot next to me, and sure enough, theres the clunk!! I put a few washers in between it and the bracket and its gone again. So, long story short, check those nuts and bolts, and bushings back there and see what you find.

I have a clunk in my rear driver side when I do the same thing. Back up then go to cut the wheel back and I only notice it when its cold too, but now that its warmer I haven't noticed it recently.

LBJs a long time ago, only for preventative purposes.
No mods except the car seat that's gonna be going in it soon.

I only hear, it, I don't feel in in the steering wheel, BTW.
