Alright everyone ive got an idea and let me know if im crazy. so I was lookin into finding some landcruiser 7.5 wrap coils for the rear of my runner but they are pretty hard to find...but I have a set of 8 wraps I believe ( double purple blue white and purple green white) and im wondering has anone tried 8 wraps in the rear and toytec coilovers maxed out up front with some 285s? Am I crazy or will that look pretty good? I really would like to stick LC cause its my daily driver and want to keep it fairly smooth riding.

The back will feel great. (Just need longer sway bar links) The front will probably (only a guess) feel like sh*t. Maxed out doesn't sound good. But you might not need to max them out either. I ran 285/75/16's with Tundra TRD's on 5100's on the middle notch. Little pinch weld trimming and some spacers it was all good.

A few members have maxed out the front to 3.5" BUT, they also invested in $$ Lotus cv's. Without that and other upgrades, expect to be replacing parts often.
I loved the way my 4R looked maxed out with LC 8's but the ride up front was "sh*t" as pitbull put it. I now have Toytec's Superflex on the rear and their springs with adj. billies upfront and I dig it. It handles awesome and looks the part.
 
Doggone...so it seems like my best bet is going to find some 7.5 wraps...anyone know where I can find a set of new ones?
 
I would run the front at 3". If there used you might only get 4" rear. The 1" rake looks good on 285's and just nasty on 35's. The fronts will last longer this way. I would recommend lowering rear bump stops about 3 1/4"'s to stop the longer travel shocks from over compressing and the rear coils from falling out.

yeah I don't want to max out the front... I really love your black 99 with the 7.5 wraps. any chance you know the color codes on those? the 8s are gonna be just a hair to tall for me and your 99 is my idol :P im even planning on going with the 285 treadwrights, how have they held up?

I sold it in April. But I actually swapped the 7.5 wraps out in favor of a set of OME 890's. it rode a lot nicer, had a lot less rake and looked better IMO.

really? the 890s rode better than the LCs? that the first I heard that, I always heard the 890s were pretty stiff that's why the 891s are out of the question. what rear shocks were you running?

890's are the softest of the OME springs, they're softer than 906's even though they're taller. I ran them with the LC Black Tokico's. The LC springs were soft but since they were so tall the truck felt like it was top heavy, scary on the highway. It was better with the 890's and no rear sway bar than it was with the LC's with the sway bar.

Did you run into any problems with the LC shocks bottoming out?
I was under the impression that LC shocks were too long for 890's.

So no need to limit the LC Blk Tokicos either way with the 890s?
You seem to like the ride of this combo, how much weight did you have on them?
I'll have stock weight (spare, hitch, tools, small parts) in the back for a while.

I'm going 890s vs 7wraps(because of towing weight and unweighted ride height) but don't know what shocks I want to pair them with yet.
 
If you do go with LC springs, you can alwasy add an airbag setup for about $100 plus the compressor. Its best of bothworlds, you get the flex and softness of the lc coil on the trail, then you can air it up on the road to stiffen it and also you can set the rear to whatever height you want due to weight.

I had no added weight: stock bumpers, no roof rack.
 
For what it's worth, I plan on going from 906's to 8 wraps here real soon, and I'm not going to touch my coilovers. I have a bit of weight on the back with the tube bumper and spare, but nothing excessive.
 
Soooo I just discovered toytec superflex rear coils... Man so many options! Anyone have expierence how those compare to LC coils?
