another problem...

So I just got my 99 4runner SR5 with 156,XXX shipped via truck from New York to California. It took roughly a week to get here. I picked it up and everything checked out just fine. but then as I was driving it the ABS light went on, and hasn't gone off as of yet. Anybody have any idea of what the problem could possibly be? Is it that the car has been on the truck for a week or did something happen to it that the truck driver failed to mention to me?

Any help is Greatly appreciated. I have already checked the ABS fuse and it isn't blown.

There are ABS sensors on each wheel and they can get dirt stuck in them making ABS turn off. Check that, or just don't worry about it, there are many people here that run with ABS off all the time. Do a search and you'll see why.

Dont forget to check if the bulbs are bad, if your brake lights die then your ABS light comes on.

I know for a fact that my 3rd brake light is out. my friend told me that several weeks ago and it was too cold and i was too lazy to change it, and it never went on. Are you sure it can go on from a light being burnt out?

Sure can, but if it stays on, it is very possible you have another problem.

Non-ABS 4Runners don't have this option. When it's burnt out, it's burnt out.
