Toyota 4Runner owners, beware.

The Insurance Bureau of Canada has published its (2016) list of the most stolen vehicles in Ontario and across the country this year.

While the Ford F150 was the favourite target in Western Canada and the Pacific region, the Toyota 4-Runner topped the list in Ontario.

It was the second year in a row that vehicle theft climbed in Ontario and across Canada.

Here is the top 10 list for Ontario.

This year's 10 most frequently stolen vehicles in IBC's Ontario region are:

1. 2015 Toyota 4Runner 4-door 4WD SUV
2. 2014 Toyota 4Runner 4-door 4WD SUV
3. 2003 Hummer H2 4-door AWD SUV
4. 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe 4WD and 2003 GMC Yukon 4WD SUVs
5. 2015 Lexus RX350/RX450h 4-door AWD SUVs
6. 2002 Cadillac Escalade 4-door 4WD SUV
7. 2015 Acura MDX 4-door 4WD SUV

It's not that easy to steal a 5th gen, unless it's running. Note that that's Canada - I bet a lot of their thefts are cars left running due to the cold.

US it's gotta be older Honda Accords and Civics. I bet the 4R isn't even on the US list.

There's been at least a couple of 5th gens and tacomas stolen in NM this year but the main target remains the ford f-series, especially the diesel super duty. You can almost guarantee that you will at least get broken into with the ford in Albuquerque, if not completely stolen. In fact, all vehicle theft/break-ins have skyrocketed in NM so really they're just taking whatever you have. And thanks to our completely worthless judicial system, they will be out the next day ready to steal again.

I'm really surprised the 4runner is the top vehicle stolen up there. At least those thieves have good taste.

Was just gonna post this. I live in Ontario and just bought a 2016. Been parking it in the garage since I've got it though and looks like it's going to stay that way.
