Any Danger to ECU keeping Scanguage plugged in permenantly?

Hi, I'm wondering if there is any risk to damaging the ECU with a Scanguage permanently plugged in? Also, is battery drain an issue or does it power off? I'm expecting delivery today. I purchased this mainly to monitor Transmission temps as I've just rebuilt my tranny & new torque convertor. I have a 99' Limited.

By the way, I don't know about you guys, but my marrage is on hold for a few months as the Stanley Cup Playoffs have started. So it's just me, my friends & my Runner in the garage most every night till around mid June.

I leave mine plugged in all the time with no issue. It turns off when the truck is off so no battery issues.

This year was just horrifying for my NHL team. I'm just glad we made a push at the end of the season and made it over .500.

Go Jackets! (and for this years playoffs only, Go Jets!).

It is just an awful parasitic drain that darn Scangauge. In fact there have been some reports that the 4runner will catch on fire, leaving nothing behind, even less than the amount of hair on the top of Messier's head.

Mine has been plugged in for four years and no problems.

Good luck if you think that you will be watching the hockey playoffs with all your buds in the man cave five years from now when married.

I concur, my Oilers have been slumping for a while, so I know where you are coming from. Those poor Leaf fans have been patient since 1967?
I loved though, how the Jacket's took care of the Canucks late in the season. It didn't matter in the standings, but any team beating the Canucks is so fun to watch... haha.
I as well, am expecting great things from Winnipeg. I used to live there when the Jets were there before, in the Selanne, Doan & Roenick days. I'll tell you this, there are no better fans. that little city is going crazy right now, I hope they go far.
Back to the topic at hand, I am thinking that a scanguage would be a great tool, especially for older vehicles in monitoring performance?

I have an uncle up in Winnipeg right now, and he says it's crazy how excited they are to be in the playoffs. It was amazing last year when my Jackets were in the playoffs. I went to all the home playoff games (plus about 15 regular season games lol) and it was incredible. Best money I've ever spent. I've grown up with the Jackets, and they hold a very, very special place in my heart. I live and die by them more than any of my other favorite sports teams. Small markets make the best hockey towns IMO. Hopefully the Oilers come back to life in a similar fashion to Calgary.

Not going to comment on the NHL part as I just got back from deployment and haven't kept tabs on much while I was gone. I will however say, I've had my scangauge plugged in almost as long as I've had my 4Runner with no issues. The thing turns its self of shortly after turning off the truck so there's no worry of battery drain. It's definitely nice being able to keep track of the extra numbers that the dash just won't tell you.

That's for sure, since I'm off-road with this vehicle 95% of the time I find myself keeping an eye on the ATF and FWT more than I look at any gauges on the dash.

Thanks GVL, that's what I'm thinking as well.
The MPG readout's, for me anyway, are probably the least of what I want to monitor. I track mileage on fuelly.com currently & averaging 19.7 MPG. So not going to concern myself with resetting the gauge upon filling up.
My thought is Tranny Temp, Coolant Temp, Voltage & "Real Time" fuel consumption.
