Any experience Morimoto LED retrofits?

I've been planning an HID retrofit for a while, and have a spare set of headlights waiting in my garage. I had planned on doing a Morimoto d2s 4.0 but recently saw that they have introduced a Morimoto LED kit that claims similar performance as the d2s 4.0. I saw some writeups on other forums, but no 4Runners using the LED's yet (at least didn't turn it up in my searches).

I've heard for a while that LED is still not as good as HID, but has great potential (heat/power/lifespan). I did some reading, but admittedly have little expertise in this area (and not enough time to research fully).

Can anyone shed some light as to the current offerings, recommendations and such?

I'm actually ok giving up *some* lighting performance over the d2s 4.0 if it is still much better than stock, but the reliability/longevity may be improved.

led retrofits are used on the newer 4runner due to the side mount.
stay with the d2s on the 4th gen 4runner, remember with d2s you can use oem d2s bulbs. premium bulbs like osram and philips can give that extra umph.
