Any former or current Shelby Mustang owners?

I had to start this thread because people that know cars and are passionate about them get a Shelby. People that know about cars and are smart about them get a Toyota or 4Runner to be exact.

I noticed a lot of people I knew who were or currently are Shelby Mustang owners got a 4Runner in recent years most notably the TRD Pro version. Shelby owners have to have the equivalent.

I am a recovering Shelby addict and it's been four months since I sold my 2012 Shelby GT500 and I am still having withdrawals. Don't get me wrong my TRDPro 4Runner is an excellent truck and I will never need to worry about reliable transportation again but something about that Shelby you just can't replace.

Prior to that I had a 2007 GT500.

I am just curious who here is a current or former Mustang Shelby owner and if you are I take it you have a TRD pro?

Honesty in the 80's the Corvette was the badass car for rockstars and celebrities, the middle aged baby boomer burning up the clutch accidently killed the image of the Corvette in the 00's and shoehorned it into the mid-life crisis vehicle of choice. You no longer saw the hip younger dude driving them. It was the stereotyped image that killed it for me.

The Shelby was always the cool guys car till the recent cars and coffee fiasco and pedestrians getting crushed.

My point of view is from a Gen-X'rs perspective.

I think Millennials view all of us as gas guzzling neaderthals

Cars and Coffee really savaged the Mustang.

I do like how the new 'Vette looks like they ripped off a Ferarri... that and they're hopefully releasing a mid-engine version soon based on the mules running around Michigan.

Personally no, but my dad has had over 20 mustangs since I have been alive. Currently only has 2. Everything from an 85.5 SVO to a 89 NOS supercharged grabber blue autokraft conversion to an 06 whipple convertible on 20s.

But when I did manage a body shop about 4 years ago we did get the “opportunity” to work on a 2008 Shelby GT500 Shelby Supersnake 427. It only had 400 miles on it at the time(still had the wrappers on the seats and floor mats. Not making this up, the new owner took delivery on Tuesday, took it to a car show Wednesday night...was leaving and the pavement was cold tried showing off and ate a curb and drove over the median. Over 30k in damage and being Shelby we had to wait on parts direct from Shelby in Las Vegas, and being a super snake even more so complicated the parts issue with all of the carbon fiber and brake work ducting. But yeah it was fun. Sorry long story, but since I was raised i have always been a fan of Mustangs over Corvettes.

I like the current model GT350 and GT350R. Not the fastest cars out there but they're cohesively designed, all-around performance cars. 8000+ RPM V8s are retty rare things these days.

I'm not an owner, though. As for this Gen-Xer, I rely on a Porsche 997 for my go-faster needs.

That is one of the cars that I hope to own some day. I had the opportunity to manhandle a 2014 gt500, which is the second fastest production car ford ever produced, about a year ago. I had an adrenaline rush for about 3 days.

Not a Shelby, but I own a 2003 Cobra “Terminator” convertible that’s pretty badass. Hence my screen name. Before that I built a FFR ‘65 Shelby Cobra replica that was also a super fun car.

Just sold mine to buy the trd. Don't regret it yet, till I merge onto the highway....
700whp is hard to get over. The 4Runner is not worth comparing, speed wise.

not a shelby, but I do still own my first car, a 1969 Mustang convertible. Has a shelby drop (1" UCA drop developed by Carroll Shelby). Have owned it for 21 years and currently getting a much deserved 4.6 dohc engine transplant.
