Any good step sliders??

After toying with the idea of taking the factory running boards off I've come to the conclusion it will be pretty hard for the kiddos and the wifey to get in the runner. Especially after I lift it. Does anyone out there make a good "step" slider? I had All Pros on my tundra and my last 4runner but that tube design is slicker than owl poop especially after a good rain.

I've got All Pros on my 4R, and I agree they're too slick. I should have gotten the fill plates too.

My cousin had his sliders coated in bedliner to give it more grip. Seems like a good move, regardless of what direction you go.

I think RSG make a great choice, mine are angled, but they do make flat also.

Any of the sliders offered for 3rd gens can work as a step, it just won't be as low as the factory running boards. You'd want to have it flat instead of angled up if you wanted it to function more as a step. For grippiness, grip tape would give the most traction. Traction plates are better than nothing but my diamond tread plates are still pretty slick when it's wet. Aside from that, it's a matter of what design you like and if you want a bolt or weld on. You can pretty much weld any slider on but shrockworks is the only company I'm aware of that offers bolt on specifically for 3rd gens. 4crawler has a diy kit that is bolt on.

Edit - actually the Rocky Roads 3rd Gen bolt-ons look good too, and an $80 shipping deal is going on......

Another vote for the RSG's. I needed step functionality for my elderly Mom and these work well for that purpose.

Mine are welded on and angled and still work as a step.

I also forgot to mention White Knuckle offer bolt on sliders for 3rd gens which has a kickout.

The Shrockworks stuff is good quality... Just keep in mind you will be drilling to install them. (true for whatever bolt on option) I actually welded them on - I liked the fill plate design best. I haven't had the pleasure of actually bashing them on rocks yet, so I'm not the best source of a real review.

My buddy welded these onto my 4X sliders. They add some much needed grip and look great IMO.

Might want to consider the "new" Savage sliders. Part of the input into the design was family, kids and also dogs.

Probably nothing stronger out there, all US steel too. Expect a lead time though....

Yeah I had mine powder coated and that was a BAD idea, so much slicker. I took skateboard grip tape and that worked pretty good but eventually starts to kind of peel up since it's a rounded surface. I like the look of those RSG's.

I’ve got the savage sliders a post or two up but had Roy add a second set of kick outs so there is a step for front and rear. They look pretty sweet. Cleaned them thoroughly, auto self etching gray primer and then truck bed liner.
