Any regrets with Rear bumper with swingout?

3rd Gen 4Runner Single Swingout Steel ***Plated*** Rear Bumper

So ive been really considering finally getting a rear bumper with swinout and my biggest question did any of you reget the announces it adds? Like needing the room for the swing out and extra noise or wobble the swingout added?

after my regear I plan to move closer to 33" tires and I know its a pretty tight fit for that. Also really eyeing a second gas tank in the spare location since im routinly way off the beaten path and all these mods is cutting into my mileage.

Anyone who has this particular bumper have any insite? Im thinking one long swing out with a post to add rotopex or anything else I might think of. No need for jerry cans with the 10gal onboard water tank I added.

I have a 4xinnovations rear bumper with swingout and I have no ragerts. It’s bulletproof.

Only advice is try not to add weight to the swingout if you can avoid it. I needed a place to hang a spare, but with a loaded 5gal jerry can on it too you can tell it’s working hard, especially when you’re beating on the truck.

4X1 bumper here as well, not a single regrets. It doesn't rattle at all ad far as I can tell. The only slight issue I've had is that I have occasionally lightly tagged the spare, and this caused it to spring forward a little and bump the hatch. There's a very slight bend where the arm touched the plastic license plate surround and pushed on it a little. No damage to the swingout, it sprang back into shape after.

I have a rear aux tank where the spare goes, I was going to use the EMKeith kit and the Ford tank, but the 4XI bumper had bracing that took up some of the room that tank needed, so I ended up using a different tank and making a mount for it. Supposedly holds 15 gallongs, but for whatever reason i can only put about 13 in it, which is still plenty of added range.

No regrets. Unfortunately, CBI decided to stop making the bumper for 3rd Gen Owners.

So, not sure how specific you're wanting feedback on, but my bumper isn't swing out, but my RigD UltraSwing is a nice thing, and my main complaint about it is a me problem.

It doesn't automatically latch upon closing, and a time or two I've left it open, with bikes on the rack mounted to it, the realization moment when the thing swings wide open and hits it's bump stop, is mildly terrifying and yet still hasn't made me 100% on latching it, sigh.

So to anyone making swing aways, an auto latch feature for closing the thing, ought to be mandatory.

4xinnovations & Nguyen Works rear swingout bumpers both have features I like. But if I had to chose, I'd probably go with 4xinnovations because I like that you don't have to cut anything & it has a DOT rated hitch.

Looks wise, something about the way the 4xinnovations rear tire & swingout is positioned doesn't seem as tightly contoured to the back end as some of the other options. But functionally it's probably better that way. I also wish 4x wasn't as chunky.

spare + 2 jerry cans
you may need to review your current coil spring rate and adjust accordingly

I've had 2 versions of the CBI (previously mentioned no longer in production)

First one was a full single arm swing that I sold to fund other projects and the other, my current, is a dual swing arm.

Speaking from experience, I hated the single arm. Overall operation was difficult, it wobbled, and I didn't like needing so much space behind to open it all the way. A lot of why I sold it.

The dual swing arm is a dream. Rotopax and highlift on the left and tire swing on the right. Sure, you have to swing out both and lock them in to get in the back but they're much easier to move around and require far less room.
I think it just overall looks better too.

CBI may not do them anymore, but there are plenty of options out there.

Thanks for all the responses. Just good to hear everyone's opinion's on them from different brands. The main idea is just if i go bigger tires ill need to pull the spare from under. I do like the idea of adding more gas under there since im always going super remote.

Seems like one swingout vs two is pretty split. Its my dedicated camping rig so I prob wont have some of the same complaints as someone using it as their daily.

What rear coils did people need for the upgrade? I have some 2890( maybe 2891 are next) coils now 10 years later they are sagging a little with just the sleeping platform and camping gear. Its hard to tell what works since heavier coils say like 3.5" lift which is to high but I guess with added weight that drops back to 2-2.5"
