Any way to extend the range of keyless entry on '97 T4R?

Ok, holy crap! I was out to dinner last night with the girlfriend and was telling her about this. As always she just ignored what I was saying especially when I am talking about my car. This actually works. I stood at a distance (not exactly sure) and tried my factory key fob. Didn't work. Put that thing to my temple and it worked! Needless to say I got the "who cares" eye roll from her but it actually does work.

Its also nice to start up your car at wal mart when you see the person parked to you is getting in/out to keep them honest that they dont door ding your ride!

I always enjoy starting it when some d**khead sits on my bumper or lean on the hood at Starbucks. Watching some kid launch of my truck and spill his $8 coffee always makes me feel good.

I did this mod with the soldered in wire but it works like crap now....worse than before. Did I mess up by not using 'rosin-core solder' (Like I would know what it was if I saw it, lol)? I just used the solder supplied in my radioshack kit (64-2802B) but it doesn't describe what type I have here.

You could have over heated the transistor cooking you remote. You will probably have to get another one.

I soldered the wrong way and didn't heat the remote very much at all. I dripped the solder on so I wouldn't heat it up too much.

It's rosin-core. Per MSDS for that part number:

I would have been shocked if it wasn't. You FUBAR'd something else...

I think the wire I put in is getting in the way. I shook it and it started working a lot better so apparently it isn't staying in place like I thought it would.
