Throwing out a line to see if there's someone watching who might have a suggestion for where to go now. Background:
'99 limited, over the past few months the keyless entry has become unreliable. At first just the normal low battery type issue of having to be really close for it to work. Brand new battery (checked with DMM several times now), and the functions went from working roughly every other time to Maybe 1 time in 50 now. It's basically non-functional at this point, wife is just using the key full time.
I have 3 fobs I've programmed (several years back) where 2 live in the safe without batteries and we just use 1. Brand new batteries (I've tried 2, both show the same volts and amps on DMM), all 3 fobs display the same low-reliability function ~ I'm 99% certain it's not the fobs.
All doors lock/unlock just fine with both the key from outside and with the door controls from inside, so I'm reasonably sure it's not the relay on the BCM. All door lock actuators were refurbished a few years back when I initially got the key fobs up and running.
Rear hatch wiring was inspected 4/18 (yesterday as I type this), only 1 wire had the broken insulation and was repaired. I pulled the hatch door card to inspect for wire/connector damage there and found none but hit everything with electrical contact cleaner (Deoxit).
While this is just a silly little convenience thing and my wife had stated she doesn't mind just using the key, it bugs me. I'm feeling like it's got to be either a receiving/antenna thing, or communication from the receiver to the BMC (where ever the logic is that tells the locks to function). I've been unable to find detailed information about either of these... either just using the wrong keywords or it's one of those things that's in a thread somewhere that changed direction and doesn't pull with search (using the google site specific searching method). Just looking for ideas. I'm reasonably technical, managed to reflash my immobilizer so I could program new master keys (several times, tested on a junkyard unit first) ~ just need more knowledge/understanding of the system first.
