So I got my 2014 black TEP in April and I love it. Wife's car has about another year before we decide to ditch it. She likes my T4R but has always said she wants a sequoia...I said I'm not paying the gas for one so it's either another 4runner or highlander as I not buying another gm(current wife's car is an acadia). Since we drive her car when going anywhere as a family and hauling the kids and dog to our cabin I like the idea of her getting a 4runner. Is it odd that two spouses both drive the same car?

My wife was the primary driver of our 2008 4runner while I always drove a pickup truck of some kind. I always like driving our 4th gen but I drove a truck and my wife usually does not like driving my trucks so she drove the 4th gen. To be honest, a Highlander would probably suit her needs better but she likes the 4runners way more than the Highlander. This month I traded my F150 for a 2014 TE so now we will both be driving 4runners ( I'm betting she will be driving the new 4runner mostly). I don't think it's that odd really.
Within reason she has the ability to choose what she wants...

My husband drives a '14 Tacoma and I just recently traded in my Volvo for another '14 4Runner (I've owned a '97, '02, and '12). Both of our vehicles are white, but no, I don't think it is weird to (basically) drive the same thing.
I looked into the Highlander but didn't want a crossover. I would've kept my Volvo (car) if that's what I was going for. I couldn't justify purchasing the Highlander over the 4R as they weren't any "perks" about the Highlander that the 4R didn't offer (other than maybe the power liftgate?). And the Sequoia is just way too big.

My wife likes my new 4Runner so much that she wants one now as well. She always liked them, but this just solidified her decision. We don't think it would be weird to drive the same thing, unless it was the exact same color. Even then, who cares if you are driving a good vehicle that you like!
My wife is currently driving a Rav4 (with the V6: that's a much faster ride than you realize if you haven't driven one), but she loves the 4R. When it comes time (she's up next in the rotation) I'm sure getting another will be discussed- especially getting a Limited with a third row - and I won't feel weird in the slightest.

My wife and I have decided to get another T4R however looking at a limited for her that I have agreed to keep my hands off of. But just the other day she saw a GX460 in the parking lot of the grocery store and insisted we go look at one. Well we did and now she is in LOVE..... and all i'm seeing is $$$$$ this is going to cost. I'd rather spend 10k less on a limited 4runner.... oh well. FWIT don't let your wives see the GX460! LOL:frusty:
I see many LE's pricing in the 44 to 47k range, so a gx at 52 to 54k isn't always much of a jump. Those are msrp and typically the yota will be easier to negotiate down than the lex. You can find a base gx at 50k. The v8 and 6 speed are worth a significant portion of that difference as are the LEDs and many little things: big LCD, more automation (driver seat and wheel extend and retract automatically when you get in and out, mirrors aim down in reverse), higher tow rating, thicker sheet metal all around. Gx loses on ground clearance but really not much else.
