Hey there wondering if anyone has gone from a tundra to a 4runner ?? WhT years and also why?? Did you regret it?? If so why or why not? On the other hand, same questions to 4runner owners who have gone to tundras? What would you change or take all back after was said and done!? I am the owner of a 2013 trail edition and have really been considering 2008-2011 tundras with the 5.7L...
Anybody go from tundra to 4runner or vice versa ?

2003 4Runner ---> 2006 Tundra ---> 2019 4Runner
I needed a truck. Now I don't but still miss having one. All three vehicles were/are great. What would I change? I should have kept the Tundra and still bought the 2019 4Runner. Better yet, I should have kept the 03 4Runner and bought the Tundra. Both would still be worthy and I would still have a V8 4Runner.

I have not, but probably 80% of the decision would revolve around whether you want a pickup bed or enclosed vehicle. The other 20% would likely involve power/speed, or perhaps towing capacity. One won't trump the other in durability or reliability, so getting a 'better' vehicle isn't going to happen. That is, unless the previous owner(s) of the 10-13-year-old Tundra you decide to buy neglected it.
My 2 cents.
I have both. Do you need increased towing capacity? Do you have plans to make use of the bed? The extended length can be cumbersome in small parking lots.. The power is nice compared to the 4Runner. You cry more at fillup, but you can get a 38gal fuel tank. More legroom in the back if you get a Crewmax. Appears you can get more suspension travel when lifting. However the increased wheelbase may negate that..
The 4Runner is great to just jump in and go anywhere. Slightly more comfortable. Better MPG, if that matters. More offroad capable on small trails. Depending on year, better stereo. The Jbl is terrible in the Tundra. I don't regret either one. They both have purpose. You need to decide what fits you better.

I liked my Tundra a lot, but I didn't need the size and utility of the truck very often so the 4runner was just a better fit for me. I ALMOST bought a 2020 Tundra when I bought my current 4runner. I LOVE the Tundra, and wish I had the power and acceleration of it but I'm happy with my 4runner.

What is the reason you are thinking of changing to a Tundra?
I have both. 2018 Platinum Tundra and 2020 4R Pro. Previously have had 2010 and 2001 Tundras, and 2001 and 1997 Tacoma’s.
I’ll describe the different characteristics I see with driving them both....
Tundra has a massive interior with crewmax, and is a more comfortable long distance driver. Motor and transmission work very well together. Average 15mpg mixed driving on 33” tires. LED headlights put out crazy good light. The factory premium JBL stereo was laughably bad.
4R has good interior room, but certainly feels small compared to the Tundra. Average 17mpg mixed. Much better in snow / ice driving, in both 2WD and 4WD. Definitely notice the motor having 100 less HP and one less gear. Love how much room the rear cargo area has. Is easier to park due to size, but feel the turning radius is smaller. Head lights are horrible.
You can’t go wrong with either, and almost solely depends on if you need the covered / higher rear cargo area of the 4R more than a pick up bed. We needed the rear cargo area for the dog, and it’s been great. If we go anywhere as a family, without the dog, we take the Tundra.
Have you looked at Sequoias? To be honest, I kind of wish I would have bought the wife a Sequoia (softer ride, more room, and has auto 4x4).

Agree on all counts!
1. Yep, the JBL Premium stereo is laughable. That was why I opted NOT to buy the Tundra when I bought my 4runner.
2. Dogs rule, yes, the cargo area in the 4runner is fantastic and my GSD LOVES that the back window rolls down when we go for a ride
3. The missing 100HP and 5 Speed Transmission (which I believe was designed around the time Stonehenge was built) are certainly drawbacks, but not deal breakers
4. Yep, the off road capability as well as Ice/Snow driving in the 4runner (despite #3 above) are phenominal
5. Tundra interiors are incredibly comfortable, but yep, if they only put a truly premium sound system in there! I have a loaded Avalon with the JBL and that car ROCKED! It was amazing! The JBL's in Tundra/4runners are just plain garbage for sound quality.
