Anybody good with the electrical system

Here's one for the electrical guru's out there. I have a 2003 LTD V8. After the DEI 2-way remote starter was installed, which by the way works at great distances, I found that the automatic headlight delay does not shut off the headlights after the engine is shut down unless a door is opened. I thought that after I had the delay set to zero seconds it would go off with engine shut down, it does not. The door still has to be opened and then the lights will go off. I would like to know if anyone has an idea for a circuit or modification that will allow the lights to go off on engine shut down without opening a door. Then I could use the auto on/shutdown feature. I have contacted the installation help line of the starter manufacturer and they have no resolution.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For now I turn off the lights in the winter. Not only do I use the auto shut off, my auto start when the engine temp reaches -30F

Just leave the lights on off position, why would you leave the lights on when its started and no ones in the truck? If you want the lights to shutoff when engine is off, u see 2 10a fuse for each light, i guess u can take the fuse out, buy a new fuse holder and replace it and tap on the ignition on only wire, just like the fog light mod.

Wait...are you saying that your truck automatically starts if it gets too cold outside....if so, that's awesome!

I have a battery blanket, oil pan/trans heater, and a block heater wich I plug in when there is HBO (Head Bolt Outlet) present. But sometimes there is not such a luxury. So when I go to the movies for instance instead of leaving my rig running, which many people do, and its -50F out, my remote starter will run for 18 min and shut off and when it gets cold enough again it will start again. It has tons of other features and in my opinion worth every penny.
