Anybody powdercoat a Jaos Brush Guard

I was wondering if anybody has powdercoated a Jaos brush guard. I've blacked out almost everything on my 2006 4runner and am thinking about powdercoating my brush guard. I know it seems ridiculous since they're are so expensive but I want to make it stand out a little less.

Anyway, tell me what you think of this. I took some black duct tape and put it over the polished surface.

Also before you ask the roof rack and nerf bars are being powder coated and are going to be put back on.

That's what I think too. The more I look at it the more I like it. Maybe I should just keep the duct tape on it because it makes it look so custom. LOL
 
That sounds like alot of effort. JK I was getting my roof rack and nerf bars powder coated and they said they would do the brush guard for $60-70. I thought it would have cost alot more money. The only reason I hesitated because I may want to sell it down the road to get a tube bumper built and wanted to make sure there might still be a market for it.

but my dad used to dip the handles of his tools in it, and it would make them "rubberized"

Plasti-dip!

Thats stuff is awesome, but it smeelllsss horrrible when its fresh out of the can, and makes a mess..

Its alot like bedliner / rhino-liner, except softer.
 
could you actually use plasti dip on a brush guard and get it even? What I originally was looking to do was somehow get the brush guard black but be able to remove whatever I put on it and be able to polish it up again. Any ideas???
 
I'm contemplating selling it but not sure yet. I don't know if it would work on a 2000 without new brackets.


What's everybodies opinion, would it take away from the brush guard if it was powder coated black?
 
Go for it, I was thinking of getting all my guards Black Pearled. I know it will be big $$$$$$ so I'm really contemplating.
 
I manned up and sent it in today to get powdercoated matte black. I also have my nerf bars and roof rack getting the same matte black treatment. We'll see how it comes out. I had almost put it up for sale but I had a random guy tell me how cool the brush guard looked and I couldn't get rid of it then. I thinks it's going to come out looking real good and I'll have to post pics when I get it back on in 8-10 working days.

Could look pretty damn sexy if it was all polished up and black. I think teh chrome right now takes away from the rest of your theme. Go for it, be unique. I'm sure there is someone out there who would be happy to buy the blacked out Jaos from you when you move on to the new bumper.

EDIT: I saw your post after the fact... Glad you had the balls to do it. I'm pretty excited to see it!

I'm pretty excited too!! It should done by next friday and I'll post pics once it's all on.

I'm also getting all the bolts, washers and nuts powder coated too. The guy doing the powdercoating looked at all the hardware and was pretty mad when he saw it. I guess you have to do each piece seprately. I told him a funny joke and he forgave me for the pain in the butt work he'd have to do.
